You guys, I'm no Kim K. By literally any stretch whatsoever.

That being said, since seeing her in the flesh at the recent Hairfinity launch I have been a bit obsessed with the makeup she wore on the night. I'm a patient person, and I've been waiting. Waiting for her makeup artist Mario, who I follow on instagram with no shame, to tweet a link to her lipstick, for Pixiwoo to favourite an insider pic of what eyelashes she was wearing. Alas, none of it was to be.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not usually this obsessive with makeup. In my defence that's because, usually, I'm not surrounded by intensely glamorous people (sorry to all my sisters, I stand beside your messy buns in solidarity) and so I'm not usually inundated with inspo.

As a pasty brown eyed girl, a lot of celebrity makeup and runway looks just do not compute on my face. Super trendy copper eyeshadow? Sure, on Viviannadoesmakeup it looks autumnal and cosy, on me? Aggravated dermatitis. Mega minimal beach babe with dewy skin? I had a friend once tell me I look like a shark sometimes, and that's as close to a beach babe I'll get.

So, when I saw Kim's trademark smokey eyes up close I was surprised. Not only surprised that it was a look I thought I could make work for me, but surprised because, my god, it didn't look that hard to replicate.

Despite questions from concerned family members inquiring whether I was tired or had just woken up (the curse of lower lash line smudging I fear), I was actually quite pleased with how it turned out.

YSL Touch Èclat Foundation / Nars Laguna Bronzer / Nars Orgasm Blush / Sleek Storm Palette / Mac Harmony Blush / The Balm Mary-Loumanizer / Rimmel Stay Matte Power / L'Oreal Voluminous X3 Mascara

To recreate Kim's luminous look I used the YSL Touche Èclat Foundation in BD40, set in place Rimmel Stay Matte powder.

To do a tiny bit of contouring I used Mac Harmony bronzer under my cheekbones. I then used Nars Laguna bronzer on the top of my cheeks with a tiny smudge of The Balm's Mary-Loumanizer on the very high points. Then I swirled a bit of Nars Orgasm blush on the apples of my cheeks and upwards and called it a day on my skin.

I quickly filled in my brows with and angled brush and a shade from the Naked Basics palette before moving on to my eyes. To start, I swept the shimmery beige colour (top left) all across my lid, blending up slightly before placing the shimmery brown (bottom left) above the crease line and blending upwards slightly. In the picture, the colour underneath Kim's lower lash line appeared a blue-grey black, so I chose to mix the metallic blue colour (second left bottom) with the matte dark brown shade and ran it under my eye, joining up and blending with the red crease colour at the outer corner.

I then ran a Bobbi Brown eyeliner in 'Chocolate' over my waterline and after that it was just a case of layering on some mascara (I would have used some natural falsies, like the Eyelure 83 lashes if I had any) and that was it!

I made my interpretation a little more daytime, but all in all I really liked the look and I reckon I'll be giving a few more makeup looks a go in future.

Until next time,
