Top Tips for a Happy Life #25

Good morning everybody! I hope you are all well. I wanted to introduce a bit of a Spanish influence into this week's 'Top Tip' as tomorrow I am going to Barcelona! I'm planning on Sangria for breakfast and Paella for lunch--Tapas for any other time of the day. I'm ready for Rioja, people!

This week's quote, to me, is all about individuality-- from Mr Individual himself, Salvador Dali. Of course in context he was probably talking about his contemporaries in the art world all fighting to be the most shocking and original, but I think it's a good attitude towards keeping up with the Jones'. In this day and age we are all well aware of the trappings of modern life and of social media. We all know, whether we partake in it or not, that there are certain 'trendy' things you can do to fit in. Eyebrow selfies, shots of your shoes on parquet flooring, hotdogs or legs? There are a million cliches you can subscribe to that say, hey world, I can do it too! I'm cool! Follow for follow!

In reality, the people you really want to follow are the ones out there that are unique, innovative and a refreshing break from the Starbucks cup instagrammers of the world. That's not to bash those kinds of people, I'm one of them too. If my eyebrows are particularly fleeky, one of my first thoughts is-- can I be bothered to insta this? More often than not the answer is no, but that doesn't mean I'm morally against it. However, if two people post selfies showing off their makeup and one is your standard brows-on-fleek and the second is an interesting new use of colour or lipstick-- you can guess which one I'll want to look at again later, right? It's all well and good to be 'current', but you're not helping to move along the current. You're just floating along in it. Don't get swept up! Be more Dali, darling!
Until next time, adios!
